🎯 Getting Started
Translator Series (TSI) is an interactive animal call training platform. Learn to replicate calls for six species — Duck, Elk, Deer, Turkey, Goose, and Songbird — using real-time audio analysis powered by your microphone. Progress through levels, earn medals, and compete with other callers.
From the Round Table Hub, select a species avatar at the top to highlight that animal. Then click "Go to Camp" in the Quick Actions bar. Inside each Camp Hub you will find three paths: Training, Adventure, and Competition. Start with Training Level 1 to learn the basics.
All you need is a device with a microphone. A desktop or laptop with a decent built-in mic works well. For best results, use a headset or external microphone in a quiet room. TSI works in Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari.
Yes. All six species training camps, the ASCE audio engine, and the leaderboard are completely free. Premium features like advanced competitions and ProGuide mentorship may be added in later phases.
🎤 Training (ASCE)
ASCE stands for Animal Species Comparison Engine. It is the core audio analysis system that listens to your call through the microphone, measures pitch, amplitude, and frequency in real time, and compares it against ideal reference recordings to score your accuracy.
ASCE scores each attempt by comparing your frequency pattern, amplitude envelope, and timing against the target call. A match percentage is shown in real time. Bronze requires around 60%, Silver around 75%, and Gold around 90% accuracy across the attempt.
Make sure you have granted microphone permission when prompted by the browser. Check that the correct input device is selected in your system sound settings. Background noise, very low volume, or blowing directly into the mic can also cause detection issues. Try calibrating in a quieter environment.
Yes. After each attempt the REPLAY button becomes available. Click it to hear your recorded call alongside the ideal reference. Your attempt history with scores is also saved so you can track improvement over time.
Earn at least a Bronze medal on the current level to unlock the next one. Each species has four progressive levels that introduce harder call patterns, varied environmental conditions, and tighter scoring thresholds.
The Sound Graph visualizes the three pillars of ASCE scoring: frequency (pitch), amplitude (volume envelope), and cadence (timing). The ideal call is drawn in green. Your attempt overlays in orange. Where the two lines track together you earn match points; gaps show where to adjust. Visit Sound Graph for an interactive explainer of exactly how the science works and what every curve means.
🦆 Species Guides
TSI currently supports six species: Duck, Elk, Deer, Turkey, Goose, and Songbird. Each has its own Camp Hub, four training levels, themed visuals, and a dedicated ProGuide character.
ProGuides are expert mentor characters assigned to each species. They offer contextual tips, encouragement, and season reminders inside the Camp Hub. Kent Cullum is the Duck ProGuide; additional ProGuides for other species are being finalized.
Songbird uses a "feminine" design theme with softer colors (pink, sky blue, gold) and elegant typography, reflecting birding culture. The other five species use the bold "aggressive" hunter aesthetic with orange, green, and black. Functionality is identical.
🏆 Gamification
Each training attempt can earn Bronze, Silver, or Gold based on your match accuracy. Medals are permanently saved per level. Your best medal is displayed on the Camp Hub progress tracker and contributes to your overall leaderboard score.
XP (Experience Points) are earned by completing training attempts, unlocking levels, earning medals, and participating in competitions. XP accumulates across all species and determines your rank on the community leaderboard.
Click the Leaderboard button in the Quick Actions bar at the bottom of the Round Table Hub. You can filter by species, time period, and region. Your rank is highlighted automatically.
Yes. Visit the Achievements page from Quick Actions to see unlockable badges for milestones like "First Gold Medal," "All Species Bronze," and more. Additional achievement categories are being added in upcoming updates.
📦 Equipment
The Equipment page lists physical animal call products from real manufacturers like HOBO Calls, Primos, WoodHaven, and Slayer Calls. Browse specifications, sound profiles, and ratings. You can add calls to your personal "My Calls" collection and click through to buy from the manufacturer.
No. TSI is a training platform, not a retailer. The Equipment catalog links directly to manufacturer websites for purchases. We provide specifications and user ratings to help you make informed decisions.
Click "Add to My Calls" on any product card to save it to your personal collection. Your collection is stored in your browser (localStorage) and appears in the "My Calls" section at the bottom of the Equipment page. This helps you track which calls you own.
👤 Account
Currently all progress, settings, and call collections are saved in your browser's localStorage. This means your data stays on the device and browser you used. Clearing browser data will reset your progress. Cloud sync is planned for a future update.
Yes. Go to Settings and scroll to the "Privacy & Data" section. Click "Export My Data" to download a JSON file containing all your progress, stats, and settings.
Open Settings from the Round Table Hub. You can adjust font size, toggle dark/light theme, enable high-contrast mode, manage notification preferences, and control privacy options.
🔧 Troubleshooting
Try a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R or Cmd+Shift+R). Make sure JavaScript is enabled in your browser. If the issue persists, try a different browser (Chrome or Firefox recommended). Check your internet connection if assets fail to load.
Close other tabs and applications that may be using the microphone or CPU. Ensure your microphone input volume is at a reasonable level in system settings. Avoid environments with loud background noise. If using Bluetooth audio, try a wired connection for lower latency.
Progress is stored in localStorage. It can be lost if you clear browsing data, use a different browser, or switch devices. Unfortunately there is no way to recover cleared localStorage data. We recommend periodically exporting your data from Settings as a backup.
Your browser may have previously blocked microphone access for this site. Click the lock or info icon in the address bar, find "Microphone" in the site permissions, and set it to "Allow." Then refresh the page. On mobile, check your device's app permissions for the browser.
Click the "Feedback" button on the left edge of any page, select "Bug" as the type, describe what happened, and submit. You can also click the button below to open the feedback form right now.
