R3 2.0 Track

The Seniors Outdoor Track

For the 65+ hunter and angler. The woods don't care how old you are. Neither do we. Lower-impact hunts, wisdom-sharing, and the buddy system that keeps the tradition alive.

Lower-Impact Hunting

🛖

Ground Blinds

Enclosed comfort blinds with heaters, chairs, and shooting rests. Primos Double Bull, Rhino 180. No climbing.

🚚

Truck Hunts & Roads

Legal truck-and-stand hunting on many private leases and outfitted ranches. Guide drives; you hunt.

🛤️

UTV/ATV Platforms

UTVs with lift kits, heated cabs, rooftop shooting rests. Outfitter-supported senior hunts.

📍

Stay-Close Hunts

Hunt near the truck or cabin. 1-hour maximum to blind. Always within radio range.

🧊

Short-Range Calibers

Manageable recoil: .243, 6.5 Creedmoor, .350 Legend. Straight-wall options for arthritic hands.

🎯

Crossbow Transition

Can't draw a compound anymore? Crossbows extend your archery life by decades.

Lower-Impact Fishing

Pier & Dock

Most public piers have benches, railings, and ADA parking. Zero wading required.

Pontoon Boats

Stable. Seated fishing. Easy boarding. The grandfather's boat for a reason.

Drift Boats with Guides

Chair-and-float fly fishing. Guide rows; you cast. Montana, Oregon, Wyoming staples.

Pedal Kayaks

Hobie Outback or Old Town Predator PDL. Legs propel. Arms fish. Core workout optional.

Electric Reels

Deep-water jigging with electric reels (Daiwa Tanacom) — 600 ft of work done by a motor.

Seated Bank Setups

Folding chairs with rod holders. Set up at a good bank, cast one or two rods, and wait.

Medication & Health Considerations

Talk to Your Doctor Before: Blood thinners + tree stand use. Heart condition + cold weather + adrenaline. Blood pressure meds + high altitude elk camps. This page is not medical advice. Always consult your physician.

Cold Weather Cardiac Awareness

Heart attacks spike on cold morning treestand climbs. Know the signs. Keep aspirin and a charged phone.

Medication Timing

Diuretics + 6am blind = plan ahead. Pill alarm. Backup dose in a waterproof bottle.

Hydration & Nutrition

Older bodies thirst less reliably. Drink before you’re thirsty. Pack protein for long sits.

Falls Prevention

Use a safety harness, every climb, no exceptions. Consider climbing sticks with cable handrails.

Buddy System Emphasis

Never Hunt or Fish Alone Past 65

The single strongest predictor of accidents in older outdoors folks is solo adventures. Our buddy matcher pairs 65+ hunters and anglers with others of similar age and ability within 50 miles. Group trips, accountability, and shared stories.

Generational Knowledge Sharing

Grandparent–Grandchild Program

Bring your grandchild. We cover half their youth license, mentor matching, and take the photo when they land their first fish or tag their first deer. Pass the legacy.

Elder Mentor Registry

Your 60 years of experience are wanted. Register as a mentor. Youth and women will find you through our matcher. Share the tradition.

Oral History Archive

Tell us your stories. How you learned. Who taught you. The best buck. The fish that got away. We're building a library of American outdoor history, one interview at a time.

Hunting Camp Cookbooks

Grandma's venison chili. Grandpa's walleye shore lunch. Submit yours. We compile and publish a new community cookbook every fall.
